“25¢ Bricks” Was a durational collaboration between Asher Price and Yung Jake.
Bricks were made using soil from construction on the CalArts campus (which had inadvertently caused the school’s kiln to be closed for 2 years)
The sun dried bricks featured a stamped insignia of A+J and were shown alongside a short documentary about their making.
Bricks were sold for 25¢ a piece during the run of the show and several more sales events occurred until all bricks were sold.
The assistant dean of the school compared the work to Carl Andre and purchased a stack of 18 to display in her office, another faculty member purchased 40 bricks and asked if we would be offended if he used them to make a walking path in his garden.
